Questions? We are here to help.

How does the Points system work?

Bookcycle points help ensure people both give & receive books - so there are great books are on the platform for everyone! When you give away a book to another bookcycler, you receive one point (don't forget to click 'mark as sent' once they have picked up the book). When you request a book, you use up one point. In addition, there is either an annual subscription fee (if you are a subscriber) or a small service fee for non-subscribers. This cost allows us to build, maintain, and grow the Bookcycle platform.

What if I want a book that isn't currently available?

If a book exists in the Bookcycle database but isn't currently available then you can use the 'All Books' distance filter to find it. Then click on the book and 'Add to Wishlist' to be notified when it becomes available near you!

How do I collect a book that I've requested?

Congratulations on finding a great book! Once the sender accepts your request, you will be able to message each other in the Bookcycle platform to arrange a pickup time/location.

Is Bookcycle free to use?

Yes! We at Bookcycle want to make our platform as accessible and inclusive as we possibly can so it is completely free to use! You can get as many books as you give away and actually, you get a credit when you start so you can request a book right away!

Can I offer any book? What are the “good” and “almost new” condition definitions?

You can offer any book in Good or Almost New condition. Almost New: All pages and cover are present. The book may have been read, however it looks new and has no major defects. Dust jacket (if applicable) should be intact. Shrink wrap and supplementary materials may be missing. Good: All pages and cover are present. The book may have minor defects (marks, bends, wear) on spine, pages or cover. Shrink wrap and supplementary materials likely to be missing. Dust jacket may be missing.

Can anyone see my child’s profile (Young Cycler)?

Your child profile (Young Cycler) is not available anywhere in the public Bookcycle platform. Young Cyclers can engage actively with the platform through adding to their wish list or already read list.

How do I offer a book without an ISBN?

Most books should have an ISBN located on their barcode. If you cannot find the ISBN then you can search for the book by title or author on the Discover page and click the ‘Offer Book’ option on the book listing.

The sender has not responded to my book request. What should I do?

We are sorry you haven’t heard back yet. If you haven’t heard a response after a reasonable time period then please use the Contact Us page to get in touch & we’ll cancel your request.

Can I get multiple books at the same time?

In a single transaction you can get up to three books from a single user. Each book will require one point.

I am going away for a little while. How do I stop receiving book requests while I'm not available?

You can turn on ‘Vacation Mode' via Account Settings. This will switch all your Offered Books from Available to Unavailable. You will need to turn off 'Vacation Mode' in order to return your books to Available.
